Thank you to Doubleday Books for picking me to win this FREE Hardcover Copy in a giveaway in their Email Newsletter last month.
This was my first time reading a Historical Fiction/Korean War Novel by Ron so i wasnt sure what to expect but i have to say it left me feeling intrigued and in shock so many times while reading it.
I found this book and story so intriguing because My Grandpa (My Mom's Dad) served in The Marines during The Korean War and since this was the first Korean War Novel ive ever read i ended up loving it so much more then i expected.
The Characters were interesting to read about. Jacob and Naomi were definately my favorites not just because of the special connection they had but also because i really felt for them since both of their parents forbid them from being together all because Jacob joined The Army during The Korean War and then when they lied about Naomi and Annie Mae's death like WHAT?! Why would someone do that?!
The Setting was beautifully described which made me feel like i was actually in 1951 Blowing Rock, North Carolina while reading especially when the scenery was described.
Overall a Phenomenally Heartwretching Historical Fiction Novel Set during The Korean War. I do wish this was part of a series because i'd love to see how Jacob, Naomi and Annie Mae did through the 50s, 60s 70s etc.
Can't wait to read more by Ron in the future!!
My reading blog will consist of my latest book reviews, bookmail, booktube videos etc
